in the Writing Classroom
Perspectives on Language Diversity
The students of ENG W600 - Written Englishes: Living Cultural Realities share their thoughts and research on language diversity. These pieces were developed using works from the Annotated Bibliography, and drawn from their backgrounds as teachers, writers, and students of language.
The writing classroom should work to give voice to those oppressed, not further suppress those voices.
How can educators be inclusive of language varieties while still preparing students for spheres where the dominant standard is Standard English?

A report on the presence or absence of AAVE Courses in the Fall 2013 Course offerings at 5 national universities in the U.S.
